I have had the opportunity to engaged and reflect in professional growth opportunities in my field experience and in EDE4504. One assignment in particular gave me the opportunity to explore the community my school was in and reflect on what I observed and researched. In doing this activity, I was able to understand and connect with my students more by asking them questions like "what is your favorite thing to do in your community". After this project, I reflected on how I had deficit based thinking toward this community and my students because of my privilege. I also was able to reflect on each of my routines I did in my field experience and my one routine I did in EDE4504 which helped me learn new things that I can apply to my future routines in the classroom in the upcoming semesters. These reflections are all found in the "blog" tab listed above. Evidence Level 3:I had the opportunity to attend 3 ESOL Professional Development meetings with my CT this semester where I had the opportunity to learn about the ESOL students within my classroom and what their specific needs are. I also got to learn about technology resources that I can incorporate into my instruction and the different types of ways to welcome newcomer students in my classroom. These professional development meetings were extremely helpful in how I can use this information to accommodate the ESOL students in my classroom in the best way possible. I also had the opportunity to complete 4 observation cycles this semester where I had a pre-conference and post-conference with my CT and supervisors to talk about my lessons and how I can enhance them to be the most equitable to all students needs. These conferences allowed me to reflect on the entire process of teaching a lesson from the planning to the implementing, and lastly reflecting. Without these opportunities I would not be the best teacher I can be.
