Observation of my choosing- Working with my small group during the routine of your choice inquiry reflection assignment represented FEAP 2A because I had my materials ready and organized for the students, managed my time appropriately by allowing them to work independently and meet for 15 minutes which was enough time to keep the students engaged the whole time. I also provided a quiet and comfortable place for the small group to meet in the back of the room where there were no distractions.
Morning Meeting- By having the students come to the rug based on birthdays, this ensured that students had enough space to safely get from their table to the rug without any collisions or foot traffic occurring. All transitions were planed so minimal movement was required. For example, when all students got to the rug they all took a step back and sat down. When a student was done with their greeting they stood up, therefore when everyone was done, the whole group was standing. From there we counted them off and allowed them to find their groups quickly and quietly. From the sharing portion to the activity, we did not have the student's move out of their groups, they were to find a new group based on the category. Therefore, the minimal movement between transitions allowed for no time to be wasted, thus we were able to keep the student's attention throughout the morning meeting. Supervisor Observation- While lining the students up for PE, I represented FEAP 2a by reviewing hallway behavior with the students. We talked about what voice level we should have, where are hands should be, and our feet should be walking not running. I waited for the class to be at a voice level zero before lining the students up. I lined the students up by table to ensure that everyone was able to line up without any bumping or pushing. I gave verbal and non-verbal reminders for the students to line up at a voice level zero. Lastly, I made sure to compliment the class on how well they were doing, encouraging positive behavior throughout the routine. CT Observation- Before beginning my read aloud, I reviewed active listening with the students which includes turning their bodies to face the board. I also presented the book under the document camera to ensure that all of the students would be able to see the illustrations and read along with me. At the end of the read aloud I had the students turn to talk to the other students at their table to discuss. By having them talk to the people at their table, no time was spent on them looking for a partner and getting up and moving. |
