Evidence:
This semester I have challenged myself to communicate more with parents at dismissal as well as send home positive notes to students. I now have had consistent communication with multiple parents at dismissal every day about their child and how they are doing in class. I have noticed that the open communication with home has had positive impacts on student behavior within the classroom which in return has promoted continuous improvement in the learning outcomes of specific students. When I see a student shine in class, I like to write them a small card to show my appreciation for their hard work.
I also had the opportunity to be a judge of the Hillsborough County STEM fair where the winners from each school present their projects to compete and move forward to the state level. By being a judge I was collaborating with other interns as well as faculty and administration from the Hillsborough County STEM department to support the students who had made it past the school level fair. I had the opportunity to give feedback to each student in 5th grade and ask them questions to engage their critical thinking.
