Evidence:
I engaged in a professional development on Newcomer students and how to welcome them into the classroom. Throughout this past year we have had quite a few Newcomer students who have entered our classroom. The biggest takeaway I had from this PD is that the teachers may not always know what this student has been through or seen wherever they were last therefore it is essential to create a welcoming environment for them. I am happy to say that in my CT's classroom we have made it a point to ensure that all students no matter where they are from or what they have been through, feel welcomed and loved in our classroom. One of the ways we have done this is by having a morning meeting every single day where the students say their classroom mantra which consist of Spanish and English to ensure that all students in our class are represented.
