Evidence:
At parent teacher conference night, I had the opportunity to sit with several parents and collaboratively share the student's assessment scores and data. One thing I learned the most is to emphasize that even with low performing students, what we care most about is the growth that the student has made over time. This is more informative and gives a better representation of the student than the score itself.
In my ESOL courses as well as my Emergent Literacy course, I developed a presentation that I had to share with parents about the outcomes of my focus student and their assessments as well as give instructional recommendations. I worked with these students throughout the course of the semester and was able to share it with their parents at the end of the semester.
In my level 4 reading practicum I worked with a case study student where I had to create a letter home to the parents talking about the student's strengths and goals and what can be done at home to help the student succeed!
In my level 4 internship as a way to prepare for our STAR assessment, I created practice assessments to prepare the students for what the testing environment and questions would be like. After each student completed their practice assessment I had a conference with them and we talked about what was correct and incorrect and I was able to address any misconceptions prior to the actual assessment. After the actual assessment my CT and I called each student back and discussed their growth with them and let them call their parents to share the good news!
